Santa Cruz is coming out with a
full suspention carbon fiber VPP 29er that will be ready by Interbike. While it's not (yet?) being called a Blur 29 I'm guessing that's what it will basically be. I'd like to say I'm going to start pinching pennies so I can replace my current Blur as soon as this bike comes out but I can almost guarantee the frame alone is going to cost $2500+.

I'm not up on the Blur, but if it's a 26" bike then the move to 29er would be attractive. Carbon fiber frame is less interesting to me - usually only saves a 1/2 pound over aluminum and not nearly as durable. Fun to think about.
yet, and this is from personal experience, regardless of durability questions (although I have several carbon bikes with zero problems) A carbon bike rides significantly smoother than alloy. Moder alloy vs. modern Carbon.
Sweet! Another carbon vs aluminum war begins right here on my own little piece of the interweb. I'm personally pulling for carbon because it makes a cool hollow sound when I flick it with my finger but I do like how aluminum pings when a stone flies up and hits the frame. Let's see how this unfolds.
the space shuttle has both. That and food in toothpaste tubes.
And urine recyled into drinking water. I do that sometimes on long rides. Quality electrolytes with little waste.
Nice one Paul Atreides. You no doubt learned that from the Fremen.
You wouldn't believe how much I had to pay them for that stillsuit.
This'll scare you straight (back to metal):

I like metal because it will often bend instead of break, and when you're out in boonies that can be a big deal.
Feel of carbon is nice, but what does it matter on a full suspension bike?
One of these days I'll do a full post on this topic.
That website reminds me of the Truman Show
