Yesterday I finished getting my Blur back in rideable condition for the Fruita trip this weekend and decided to take a quick shakedown spin in Millcreek. It was pretty cold at my house but as soon as I entered the canyon it was bone chilling. I lasted about 45 mins on the pipeline before I lost all feeling in my toes and bailed. Rides like that actually make the trainer in the basement look enticing.

I can't believe you said "enticing" and "trainer" in the same sentence!
you must have blood flow issues, cause I didn't get thta cold rippin down emigration at 30mph this evening.
I left my frozen toes in my ski boots April 2nd, 2008.
Specialized defroster shoes. No vents, insulated, keep the ankles warm, and they are actually pretty lite weight.
really pipeline that cold?
i've been riding upper millcreek trails all week from 32-42 temp and riding pipeline on the way down. and pipe was supa warm. actually warmed up on pipe in the sun. it was colder going up the road than coming down pipe.
get some neoprene booties. i havn't broke mine out yet, but they work good in the snow and comming down the canyons.
The sun had just set and we all know that MC is far colder than Emi. I've got toe warmers and noeprene booties but when I left the house I didn't think I'd need them. I'll have to look into that Spec shoe...might be nice for cross when booties might get in the way.
booty never gets in the way of teh CX.
Nice booty can be very distracting for this CX padawan learner
